Pretty in Perimenopause  Disclaimer: I am not a licensed cosmetologist or dermatologist please consult with you hair/skin care expert.                      As I write this post I look back at my youth and get a little bothered.  I remember not having any problems with dairy, hair growth, or facial hair.  There is a saying that all good things must come to an end, but is that really true? We live in a world were being young and beautiful is celebrated, the idea of being 'forever young' is a narrative that is being pushed on women on a daily.  Beauty doesn't fade it reinvents itself.                      For the girls in the 40 and up crew do you remember what your twenties were like?  Stop focusing on the physical, I am talking about the mental, spiritual, and emotional aspects.  Some of you became mothers and wives before you kne...

What Do You Do When God Is Silent?                    Comparison is the thief of joy.  When we feel God is silent that is when our joy is stolen.  I am currently going through my 'silent' moment with God.  I honestly feel like God is tone deaf when it comes to me.  When life happen (and it will) we find ourselves going down the rabbit hole of the shoulda, coulda, woulda, and we look at the lives of others and compare where we are in our current state.  We start comparing finances, marital status, outward appearances, family life, etc.  You get so caught up in 'comparison shopping' that you leave the door open to depression, anxiety, frustration, and anger (just to name a few).                      I am learning not to exasperate my situation by comparing myself to others.  I can't let depression, anxiety, anger and everything t...

Periods and Perimenopause: The Cycle Continues ........ Disclaimer: I am not a medical expert.  Please consult with your doctor.  This blog/post is written from my own personal experience.  Again please consult with your doctor.  Please keep this in mind while reading this blog post.                       I started my cycle at 12 years old.  I never had a normal cycle like other girls.   From the very beginning I have always had very heavy and irregular cycles.   I was diagnosed with PCOS and at one point endometriosis (sounds familiar right?).   It wasn't until I was 29 that I was diagnosed with a fibroid and had to have surgery to have it removed.  I was told by my gynecologist at that time that if I wanted children I should look into fertility treatments.  Due to me never marrying I never had children (that will be another story to tell for a later ...

Starting Over After 40

Never thought I would be here. My mama told me in her own way. Every woman must find her own way. My mother made being a wife, mother, woman look so easy and effortless. Women are truly magical creatures. I wanted to be magical like my mom, but along the way I created my own version of womanhood. I created my own magic!                  I discovered my own magic during the most difficult and craziest moment in my life. At 45 I was forced to sell my home, file for chapter 13 bankruptcy and move in with my parents. If you would have told me this in 2019 we would have had a WWE Brawl! I was one of the ones who did everything right (somewhat 😏 ). I got good grades, work hard, and became my own independent woman. I had the good job, house, car, and a little money in the bank. But life doesn't give a damn !!    ...

Creative Therapy: How arts and crafts can aide perimenopause symptoms

Image
Perimenopause have many symptoms the one I struggle with the most is anxiety. Anxiety is  defined as a normal human emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical  changes (like a rapid heartbeat) and I am going to add another emotion to the description: Anger. I  have always been an impatient woman and didn't mind speaking up. When perimenopause hit I became  easily agitated and upset over the smallest thing(s). I needed something to calm me down and keep  my mind focused and that is where my love for arts and crafts came into play.                               I got into furniture restoration during the pandemic. The world was shutdown and everyone was getting into their creative bag and I was no different. At the time I got into this craft to keep my mind focused and not pay a...
